About Berkshire Arabic Community Association

BACA committee and society members are very pleased to be part of an organisation that is the first of it own kind in Berkshire and have such high morals and objectives to support its society. BACA is inviting all non-members to join in and share its aims and objectives.

BACA Aims and Objectives:

Support Muslim Arab families in the Berkshire and surroundings areas to integrate positively within the society without losing their cultural values and, helping them to find facilities within the community

• Teaching Arabic language and advance the education of the Arabic community of Berkshire within Arab history, philosophy, art, music, literature and culture.

Establish a public Arabic and Islamic library. Promote charitable cultural events for the benefit of Arabic Community in Berkshire.

General Principle of the Association:

The Association will be guided by Islamic Values and will abide by the general principals of democracy, transparency and tolerance and opposes any form of racial and sexual discrimination. The Association is non-political. For more information, click on Constitution

Membership:

The Association membership is annually starting on 1st April to 31st March. Full membership is open to Muslim-Arabs or the Muslim spouses of Muslim-Arabs and their family who reside permanently in the Association Area (Berkshire and its proximities). Non Muslim spouses will have honorary membership but will have no right to vote.

Types of Membership:

Adult membership: Open to Muslim-Arabs or the Muslim spouses of Muslim-Arabs over the age of eighteen years old living in the Association area.

Youth Membership: Open to Muslim-Arabs between the ages of thirteen and eighteen years. These members can join the Association’s Youth Club with the consent of their families.

Family membership: open to Muslim families with one or more adult Muslim Arab members

Honorary members: With Respect to all society members- honorary members are :

      a. Non-Muslim Arabs married to Muslim-Arab

      b. Muslims non-Arabs who are not spouses of Muslim-Arabs

      c. Muslim-Arab women who are spouses of non Muslims.

     d. Overseas Arab students over the age of eighteen.

     e. Muslim-Arab residing outside the Association area.

Honorary members may be admitted at the discretion of the Core Committee and have no right to vote or run for committee. However, they can participate in the association activities.
